In addition to being able to perform reconstructive surgeries on the face and body, some plastic surgeons can also treat women with breast cancer by removing tumors from their breasts, reconstructing damaged nipples using skin grafts from other parts of the body, and reshaping breasts after mastectomies using implants, among others.

Plastic surgeons have to be on call 24/7 because they have patients that need their help at all times of the day and night. If you are not available when your patient calls, they will seek treatment elsewhere.
Being present as a plastic surgeon can cost your business in the future if people don’t trust you anymore because they think that if something happens again, it would take too long for them to get help from another doctor who will treat them right away instead of waiting for someone else whose schedule doesn’t fit theirs perfectly well.
The Training In Plastic Surgery Is Also Very Rigorous
The training in plastic surgery is also very rigorous, and strict standards have to be met before one can practice this medical discipline. The training involves a lot of hands-on experience and theory as well. It takes at least 7 years of post-graduate education to become a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Dr. Peter Driscoll states that he said medical training includes 4 years of medical school followed by 3 years of general surgical residency, with an additional 2 years spent specializing in plastic surgery (either directly after residency or after further research).
Once you have completed your training as an MD or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), you will need to pass both written exams and oral examinations before being allowed to perform surgeries on patients under supervision from another licensed physician who has already passed these requirements themselves.
